The Dogs

Aravis is a dedicated ball dog, who will run herself too hard if we let her.  She learned to fetch without even trying, and taught herself to catch both a ball and a frisbee.  After the usual puppy pulling, she soon smoothed into a very nice healer, even though she most often just runs around the property and doesn't get out on 'official' walks all that often.  She is fabulous with kids and very calm with toddlers and babies who pat too hard and pull hair.  She loves to go hiking and camping with us and is very attentive to each member of the group, trotting up and down the line checking that everyone is accounted for, then running ahead to check trail conditions before returning.  Her one real vice is chasing rabbits, which is easily attributable to the fact that we didn't have any small animals at our house when she was a puppy.  Her dam and sire both work 1-on-1 with chickens and baby chicks with no problem.  I plan to work hard with her when we add chickens to our city-scape next spring.
